Terms & Conditions
Quotes and Pricing
Quotes are based on the information you provide about your animal’s size, breed, and the pickup/delivery locations. We require confirmation of the total number of animals travelling no later than 72 hours prior to the scheduled transport date.
Prices may be adjusted if this information changes or is found to be incorrect.
Prices cover transport and care only — they do not include insurance or veterinary costs.
All payments are due within the given time frame indicated on your invoice and via bank deposit. Bookings will NOT be confirmed until payment is received. No alternative form or timing of payment is valid unless agreed upon by both parties.
A $30 late fee applies to invoices not paid by the due date.
A 10% surcharge applies to transport services over public holidays.
Where possible, we will accommodate last-minute additions; however, a 10% late addition fee will be applied to your invoice.
Cancellations and Refunds
Cancellations made 2 days or more before departure: 50% refund.
Cancellations made 48 hours or less before departure: no refund.
Insurance and Responsibility
Please note that animals are not automatically covered by insurance for loss, injury, illness, or death during travel.
Owners are responsible for arranging their own insurance if desired.
Take Me Home Pet Transport handles all pets with care and diligence, but we cannot accept liability for loss, injury, illness, or death due to any cause beyond our control.
Veterinary Care
If veterinary attention is required during transport, Take Me Home Pet Transport is authorised to seek care on your behalf.
All veterinary costs are the owner’s responsibility and will be billed directly to the owner.
In the event of an emergency, we will make every effort to contact you before proceeding.
Vaccination and Animal Health
All dogs and cats (including puppies and kittens) must be vaccinated before travel.
A copy of the current vaccination certificate must be provided before departure.
If your pet is pregnant, elderly, sick, or injured, a veterinary clearance confirming fitness to travel is required.
We reserve the right to refuse transport for any animal that appears aggressive, reactive, fearful, or unfit for travel.
Timetable and Delays
We always aim to maintain our schedule; however, delays can occur due to factors such as traffic, weather, mechanical issues, or unforeseen circumstances.
Take Me Home Pet Transport will not be held liable for delays beyond our control.
Special Breeds and Conditions
Owners of Brachycephalic (snub-nosed) breeds acknowledge that transport is arranged at their own risk and may require veterinary clearance.
Transport of pregnant animals is accepted only with written veterinary approval.
Special Conditions — Brachycephalic (Snub-Nosed) Breeds
Brachycephalic breeds (such as Bulldogs, Pugs, Boxers, Shih Tzus, and Persian Cats) are more prone to breathing issues and heat stress.
Transport for these breeds carries higher risks, and special conditions apply.
Owner Acknowledgement
By booking transport, you confirm that:
Your pet has not shown signs of breathing issues or BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome), and has not required treatment for it.
You have assessed your pet’s suitability for travel and, if unsure, have sought veterinary advice.
You understand that our driver may decline to transport an animal showing symptoms of BOAS or heat stress at pickup.
If transport is refused for safety reasons, refunds are not guaranteed and will be at our discretion.
Weather and Heat Conditions
In extreme heat, Take Me Home Pet Transport may postpone or cancel travel for at-risk breeds.
We will contact you in advance if weather conditions pose a risk.
In such cases, rebooking or refunds will be arranged.
Veterinary Emergencies
BOAS can progress quickly and may cause sudden heat stress even in air-conditioned vehicles.
If veterinary care is required during transport, all costs are the owner’s responsibility.
We will contact you whenever possible before proceeding with treatment.
If we cannot reach you, we will act in the animal’s best interests based on veterinary advice.
Handling and Equipment
Dogs with BOAS should wear a properly fitted harness, not a collar or choker chain.
Please ensure your pet is accustomed to their harness before travel.
If our driver feels your pet’s breathing is being affected by pulling, walks may be limited for their safety.
Insurance
Take Me Home Pet Transport is insured, but our policy does not cover veterinary bills, death, or loss due to BOAS or other pre-existing conditions.
Owners should arrange their own pet insurance if desired.
Important Notes
Symptoms of BOAS often appear in adult animals from around 9 months of age.
Risk factors include: hot weather, obesity, stress, excitement, and previous respiratory issues.
Air conditioning does not eliminate the risk — sudden temperature changes can trigger heat stress.
